We make sustainable architecture: low-carbon, nearly zero or zero-energy architecture. Our designs, based on the German PASSIVHAUS standard, have a very low energy demand and a minimal ecological footprint in both refurbishment projects and new construction. The PASSIVHAUS certification is considered the most ambitious building standard in energy efficiency worldwide.

Main Passive House projects:

2019 Low Energy House in Premià de Dalt, Spain.

2019 Low Energy MM House in Cabrils, Spain.

2018 Passive House in Argentona, Spain.

2014 Zero Energy RM Passive House, Llavaneres, Spain.

2012 Low Energy MZ House, Barcelona, Spain.

What we do

Sustainability: the architecture we propose is based on a deep knowledge and connection with the environment. The aim is to create buildings with the highest comfort and minimum (or no) dependence on extra energy (heating, cooling, etc.). Preferably, we use timber structures and bio-construction solutions to reduce the ecological footprint.

Savings: The energy demand of a passive house is so low that savings in energy consumption can be up to 90% lower than that of a conventional building.

Health and comfort: The well-being of the user is the focus of our projects. Thanks to the high levels of insulation and a very airtight construction, an exceptionally quiet interior is achieved as well as the best thermal conditions (constant and homogeneous temperature without unpleasant draughts). The indoor temperature is maintained within the comfort range both during the day and night and all year round. Air quality is ensured by a mechanical ventilation system with highly efficient heat recovery controlled by CO₂ probes.

How we work

Sustainable Tailor-made design: We work on each project from the design expertise, in sustainability and in highly prefabricable systems. We are experts in wood construction. We design with prefabicability-oriented constructibility criteria for a higher final quality, reducing construction deadlines.

Quality guarantee: From day one, the end user knows the energy demand of their home. Throughout the design stage, the project is modelled with a specific software. During construction, a rigorous on-site supervision is carried out and, on completion, the airtightness is measured with the Blower Door test. During the first 3 years, interior conditions (air quality, temperature and humidity) are monitored.

Our expertise

In addition to a long experience in sustainable projects, our involvement in research, lectures, publications, awards and teaching related to it all, allows us to have a broad and updated vision.

The MZ Low Energy House in Barcelona (2012) ‘has achieved the first Passivhaus standard in Spain for an old building’ (Micheel Wassouf, 2014. From the passive house to the Passivhaus standard, Ed: Gustavo Gili, 2014)

Research: From 2012, as a result of the design, construction and monitoring of PASSIVHAUS buildings and nearly Zero Energy Buildings (nZEB), we have been investigating around low energy demand in warm climates. The results of these investigations have been exhibited at various national and international specialized congresses such as the Spanish Passivhaus Conferences (Vitoria 2012, Gijón 2013 and Madrid 2014) or the International Passivhaus Conference in Leipzig, Germany (2015) by the founder of the Passivhaus Institute: Dr. Feist.
